Sacha McLean
Chief Executive Officer
Sacha McLean is Chief Executive Officer and Vice Chairman of Blackcomb Aviation LP which is co-owned by the McLean family of the McLean Group and by Blackcomb’s President, John Morris. He is a commercial helicopter pilot and a fixed wing pilot, and past member of the Vancouver International Airport’s Advisory Environmental Committee. An accomplished business entrepreneur, Sacha is widely recognized for his instrumental role in the formation and expansion of the McLean Group’s flagship production facility, Vancouver Film Studios and its subsidiary companies, Pacific Backlot Services and Signal Systems. Sacha McLean is a current Board member of The McLean Group and Blackcomb Aviation, and a past Board member and Chairman of the Whistler Film Festival.
John Morris
President
John Morris is Director and President of Blackcomb Aviation and original founder of its Vancouver based jet charter, helicopter, and aircraft maintenance division, Omega Aviation. Widely recognized for his leadership role in the successful expansion of multiple aviation services under the Blackcomb Aviation umbrella, John is equally known for his distinguished flying career. This career began in 1975 when he was flying float planes off the west coast of British Columbia. John later moved into the business of managing and flying various transport category aircraft and in 1980, commenced his extensive helicopter career. Today, John Morris holds airline transport licences for both fixed wing and helicopters and has over 16000 flight hours. A true aviation entrepreneur, John Morris remains an active fixed wing and rotary pilot at Blackcomb Aviation.
Steve Flynn
General Manager
Steve Flynn is Blackcomb Aviation’s General Manager and original founder of its Whistler-based helicopter division, Blackcomb Helicopters. Steve has been flying for 25 years and is the recipient of the Helicopter Association of Canada’s Pilot Safety Award for 7000 accident free flying hours, and the Governor General of Canada’s Medal of Bravery for a complex water rescue. He is endorsed on 6 different helicopter types with over 11,000 hours, accident free pilot in command. Steve is Director of the Air Rescue Association of Canada and Director of the Helicopter Association of Canada. He is an appointed member of the Aviation Airspace Committee for VANOC.
Lynda Murdock
Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer
Lynda Murdock is Blackcomb Aviation’s Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. She is responsible for the fiscal strength of company operations and for providing leadership to the Board on asset management, tax planning, leases, regulatory compliance, and business development. Prior to joining Blackcomb, Lynda was Chief Financial Officer and later, President of Alpine Helicopters where she led a team of 200+ pilots, aircraft maintenance engineers, and support staff which included the management team and staff at Alpine Aerotech. Lynda is a former partner at KPMG LLP., where she specialized in international taxation, estates, and trusts. She is past Chair of the Helicopter Association of Canada and a frequent guest speaker and writer on financial and management issues affecting the aviation industry. Lynda Murdock is Chartered Accountant with a Bachelor of Commerce Degree from UBC.
Gary Grass
Manager of Safety Management Systems and Quality Assurance
Gary Grass is Blackcomb Aviation’s Manager of Safety Management Systems and Quality Assurance for all flight operations. He has 30 years experience in aviation maintenance, safety, flight operations, education and training. Gary earned his formal Safety Management credentials in 1984 while serving with the Canadian Air Force. He is a frequent guest speaker on Safety Management and Quality Assurance issues at aviation conferences throughout Canada and the United States.
