Steve Gray is Blackcomb Aviation’s Whistler Base Manager, Rotary Pilot and Safety Officer. He has been flying commercially for 20 years and has over 7750 hours pilot in command on rotary aircraft, incident and accident free. He is endorsed on 8 helicopter types and has extensive experience flying in coastal terrain in all-weather conditions. Steve Gray is the recipient of the Helicopter Association of Canada’s Pilot Safety Award for 7000 hours of accident free flying.

Squamish Base Manager and Rotary Pilot

Ben Hawkins is the Squamish Base Manager and a Rotary Pilot for Blackcomb Aviation. Ben has worked as a full time Rotary Pilot since 1993. He has 5600 flight hours, much of which has been earned in the mountains of BC and Alberta on heli skiing tours. He is Class D certified and has attended the Robert Feerst "Working in the Wire Environment" course. Ben has worked in Africa (Kenya and Uganda) and South America (Peru) and has extensive experience in fire fighting operations, aerial film work, seismic and oil & gas exploration. He is also active in SAR, medivac and emergency response operations conducted throughout the Sea to Sky corridor.

Sechelt Base Manager and Rotary Pilot

Garret Mack is Blackcomb Aviation’s Sechelt Base Manager and Rotary Pilot. He has 16000+ hours on 9 different helicopters with over 6000 hours logged in coastal and mountain terrains. Garret has attended Robert Feerst’s course “Flying in the Wire Environment” and is a recognized expert in all aspects of hydro infrastructure including tower construction, power line patrol, crew moves, and sockline pulling.

Chris Mueller

Chris Mueller
Safety Management Systems and Quality Assurance Manager

Chris Mueller is Blackcomb Aviation’s Safety Management Systems and Quality Assurance Manager and is company lead on all matters of safety. Chris studied Forestry and General Sciences at UBC in 1989 followed by pilot training which earned him commercial licenses in airplanes and helicopters. In 1992, Chris studied Aircraft Engineering Maintenance at the Northern Lights College in Dawson Creek. Since then, he has completed additional training programs in Fort Worth, Phoenix, Indianapolis, Montreal, and Vancouver. He is qualified on numerous helicopter types and engines. In 2009, Chris completed the S-01C Level Principles of Quality Assurance program hosted by DTI Atlanta, a teaching agency utilized by Transport Canada. In 2010, he completed the CHC Safety and Quality Summit, an advanced training program for aviation professionals aimed at improving safety through analysis of human factors. Also in 2010, Chris completed written examinations for the ISO:9001: Internal Quality Systems Auditor Course which certified him for Quality Management (QM) and Management Systems (AU) Auditing. In accordance with Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs) 573.03 and 706.03/726.03, Chris is a Transport Canada approved Quality Assurance Manager (QAM) / Person Responsible for Maintenance (PRM). Through the Helicopter Association of Canada, Chris has taken courses in Risk Management and Safety Manager Training. Chris Mueller has worked extensively in the mountains of British Columbia, Alberta, the Canadian Arctic, and India in mineral, oil and gas exploration, and heli-ski operations.

Tracy Rogers

Tracy Rogers
Human Resources Manager

Tracy Rogers is Blackcomb Aviation’s Human Resources Manager. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature from UBC and post-graduate Diploma in HR Management from BCIT. Prior to joining Blackcomb, Tracy was Director of HR for an international distribution company with offices throughout Canada, the United States, and Mexico. Tracy has also worked as an independent consultant and is known for her expertise in labour relations, performance management and employment standards.
